2018 National Skilled Nursing Care Week
National Skilled Nursing Care Week® Honors Residents, Families, and Staff at Fiddler’s Green
Springville, NY-May 23, 2017 Fiddler’s Green Manor ended it’s week’s long National Skilled Nursing Care week on Friday May 18th with a symbolic balloon launch and reception. As part of National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), which ran from May 13 to 19. The theme for this year’s national observance, “Celebrating Life’s Stories”, pays homage to the diverse set of perspectives that residents, families and staff bring to everyday interactions.
After a week of specialized activities which served to celebrate and share narratives of each individual’s most significant life events, relationships and experiences to cultivate a shared sense of purpose at the center and in the surrounding community. The residents at Fiddler’s Green Manor wanted to share their stories with the rest of the world. “We felt a balloon launch was the best way to symbolize sharing their stories with the rest of the world” states Michelle Hardy, Administrator at Fiddler’s Green Manor. “We are proud to recognize the life stories of the many individuals in our center and community. This year, we share these unique stories through storytelling, art, food, entertainment and music, and honor the contribution each person makes to Fiddler’s Green Manor.
Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967, NSNCW, formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, provides an opportunity for residents and their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and surrounding communities to acknowledge the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
